2022 MMS schedule:
Buses provide for all away games- we are limited to the number of players we can take to away games. Schedules will be posted weekly & all players will receive an email.
Home games – all teams will play in either the after school scrimmage or the games vs the visiting team.
The scrimmage starts at 2:30 -3:15 & includes instruction from coaches along with 45 minutes of straight play time. Those players will then be able to take the activity bus.
Games are played to 25 points & will run either by time (20 min max) or number of games (determined in Coaches meeting). We will play on 2 courts simultaneously – 4 teams. When the game is completed the next teams will take the court. Generally teams will play one game, then are off one game, We play for 2 hours from the start. Most games are done between 5:30- 5:45pm)
League rules: SERVING first serve must be an overhand serve attempt. If the serve does not go over or in they get a second chance. The second serve can be underhand if they choose. Overhand serving is the standard for HS. POINT points are awarded after every serve excluding if there is a re-serve/2nd attempt then only 1 point is awarded after the 2nd serve. If team scores 4 points in row the run will end & the other team will serve. TEAMS depending on the opponent teams are generally mixed grades. We have set up our rosters by grade & will play a few games by grade.

MMS Coach Profile – Jen Whitten, Junior from Waterboro
o
Jen Coaches our 7th Grade Green team with Maija. Jen began playing volleyball last fall and improved tremendously throughout the season earning a spot on the varsity roster. As a softball player it has prepared her to have a strong serve & to dig the ball.
Why do you play volleyball? Because I heard everyone saying how fun it is so I really wanted to try it
What do you love about the sport? I love how fast paced it is and how much I get to dive on the floor
What advice do you have for new players? Always have positivity and energy because it really does make a difference. Making mistakes doesn’t define who you are, your reactions to mistakes define you
What other sports or hobbies are you involved in? I play softball and I have played it for 10 years. I also like to play video games and work with animals
Why are sports important to you? Because sports gets you prepared for adult life. There’s ups and downs but you have to learn how to deal with it
What do you hope to learn by coaching? Coaching has always helped me as a player because I see the game differently from where I’m standing
What are your plans for the future? I do want to be a actual Coach someday. I want to go to SMCC and I want to work with animals but I don’t know what field I want to go to yet.
